With the discovery of the diary of Elizabeth Romaine Hutchison, a friend’s grandmother, Frances Chiaverini and I set out to explore the themes of motherhood, reproductive rights, trauma, dashed expectations, gun violence, and yearning melancholy glittering below the surface of the text.
